Welcome to the Westminster Junior Firefighter’s Page

The Westminster Volunteer Fire Engine & Hose Company No.1 sponsors a Junior Firefighter Program for the purposes of building discipline, character and a sense of community in our young adults, while educating them in the concepts of fire and emergency medical services and preparing them for a future in the fire service.

Membership is open to young men and women who are between the ages of 12 and 18, and live in our first due response area, or the response area of an adjoining Company that does not sponsor a Junior Firefighter program.  Any person desiring membership must complete an application (which can be obtained online), which must then be turned in to a Senior Advisor for consideration. The approved application is then voted on at the next meeting.  All Junior Firefighters must then serve a 6-month probation period prior to becoming an Active member, and must maintain a “C” average or better throughout their membership. A Senior Advisor reviews all members’ grade reports each marking period for compliance.

Currently, we are meeting on the third Monday of every month.  Our meetings begin at 7:00 PM (1900 hours) and lasts until 9:00 PM (2100 hours).  Typically we have a short business meeting followed by a classroom or practical training, session.

In addition to training, we assist the Fire Company with fundraising events, assist the Town and community when requested and have social outings.  Annually, we have an event called “Junior Day”, when all the Junior Companies come together at the Emergency Services Training Center for a full day of fun, teamwork and camaraderie to compete for “bragging rights” for the next year.

If you think that you have what it takes, and would like to earn service hours in the process, come join us!
